Shape a new CARE Guide for parents and caregivers responding to disclosures of sexual assault from youth.

Provide insights, recommendations, and ideas for supporting a young person.

We're inviting Ontario parents and caregivers whose young person experienced sexual harassment or sexual violence while in high school to participate in a 1:1 confidential interview with our team. Your young person may be older now. What matters is that they were in high school when the harm occurred.

We'd like to understand:

  • Your experience navigating the time following your young person's disclosure.

  • The questions, information and support that mattered to you.

  • What you think would be useful for other parents and caregivers to know

Your perspectives will help shape a FREE guide that reflects the needs and experiences of families supporting youth survivors.

What to Expect

Individual interviews will take approximately 45 minutes and will be held by Zoom or phone.

We won't ask you to share details of the harm your child was subjected to or any identifying details. Instead, we'll focus on what you learned while supporting them, what information or support was missing, and what you wish other parents and caregivers could know when navigating a similar situation.

We recognize that reflecting on this time may bring up difficult feelings. You are welcome to share only what feels comfortable. There are no right or wrong answers, and you do not need to explain or justify your decisions or experiences.

Participation is entirely voluntary. You can skip any question, take a break or end the interview at any time, without needing to give a reason.

Your privacy matters. Interviews will be confidential, and we'll explain how your information will be used and protected before you decide whether to participate.

Note: peer-to-peer sexual violence can be many different things, including but not limited to:

  • Unwanted sexual comments, jokes or harassment

  • Unwanted sexual touching or sexual assault

  • Sexual pressure, coercion or threats

  • Sexual harassment or abuse through texts, social media or online platforms

  • Sharing or threatening to share intimate images without consent

  • Sexual harassment or violence related to gender identity or sexual orientation

This may have happened at school, online or outside of school while the young person was in high school.

Interested in Participating?

Please get in touch by Nov 30, 2026, for an initial screening call with our team to learn more about the project. Afterwards, you can decide if you want to be part of it.

If you have questions before deciding, we're happy to talk.
