Consent is part of our everyday lives.

Consent Awareness Week is an opportunity to recognize and practice it with care.

Whether we ask before using someone’s things, check in before giving a hug, or listen when someone sets a boundary, we’re already practicing consent.

Consent isn’t limited to one kind of relationship—it’s how we build trust, safety, and mutual respect with friends, family, classmates, teachers, and teammates.

Even though we navigate consent daily, we don’t always name it, reflect on it, or talk about how to do it well.

That’s why we created Consent Awareness Week, recognized during the third week of September. It’s a chance for students, educators, parents, and communities to come together to recognize that consent is already part of our lives—and that we can practice it with more care, communication, and compassion.

We chose this time of year because the first few weeks of school are critical for setting the tone for the school year ahead.

Consent Awareness Week is an opportunity to pause, reflect, and build a culture where everyone feels heard, valued, and safe.
